MR. MALAPROP IN FRANCE
The Curator and Mrs. Mustard lost each other for a short time while walking the streets of Beaune. After about an hour, the Curator hailed a policeman riding a bicycle. The Curator explained - in his best French - that he had lost his wife and wondered if the officer had seen a woman looking for her husband. No luck. The gendarme asked the curator for a description of the indescribable Mrs. Mustard. The Curator tried to say that she has red hair ("cheveux rouge") but what came out was: "Elle a des chevaux rouge."
The officer, showing off his English, replied, "Ah, monsieur, your wife has red horses? You Americans are quite strange, n'est-ce pas?"
Strange indeed. (Here is Mrs. Mustard with another redhead, Vincent Van Gogh (taken at the Orsay Museum in Paris). Separated at birth?
