mustard spillBULLETIN! GIANT MUSTARD SPILL SNARLS CHICAGO HIGHWAY

A truck hauling 3,000 gallons of mustard was part of a six-vehicle pile-up on Chicago's Edens Expressway late Wednesday (June 4) afternoon. The crash caused several of the truck's 55-gallon drums of yellow mustard to rupture and a river of bright yellow spilled onto the highway. (So far, absolutely true.) Reports that the Mustard Museum's Curator rushed to the seen and was observed licking the pavement are grossly exaggerated.

We know whose mustard it was but out of respect for the chagrined mustard maker - and it wasn't his fault - we're not naming names. Yet.

FEEDBACK WANTED FROM PROPER MUSTARD READERS

Q1. We sent a newsletter last week. Are we being a nuisance or can we continue to send a newsletter once a week?

Q2. Also, paper and postage costs are going through the roof; what if we shrink or even eliminate our print catalog?

E-mail me with your thoughts at curator@mustardmuseum.com

WHY WE HATE THE AIRLINES

I don't get it. More weight on a plane means higher fuel costs. To discourage extra weight, most airlines now allow only ONE piece of checked luggage, not to exceed 50 pounds. If I want to check TWO 20-pound suitcases, I pay an additional $25 (or more). But I can check ONE 45-pound suitcase at no additional charge.

Not only does a passenger lugging around a 45 to 50 pound suitcase run the risk of back injury, so do airline employees who have to handle that one heavy bag. Why not allow 50 pounds total in one or two bags (two bags maximum)? Or does that make too much sense for the bozos running the airline companies?

Of course, if you're an "elite" flyer, your extra weight doesn't matter since you don't have to pay extra.

And why should checked jars of mustard in a suitcase even count toward the weight limitation???
